For The Love of Words

  • Dallas, TX, 75206 United States (map)

At For the Love of Words, writers of all genres gather for the sake of community, discussion, and growth. Every writer hangs words in the perfect position to give space to the world seen within. Only the right words will do and serve that world well. This gathering is for writers and those who love words and feature local authors and writers who present their work and experience and offer an opportunity to meet other local writers.

On Thursday, December 4, Art House Dallas is partnering with The Covenant School to feature quality literary projects from local authors within the Art House Dallas writing community and students from The Covenant School's fine arts program. The evening will begin with discussion, move into live readings from our featured authors, and end with an artist reception. Desserts, wine, and non-alcoholic drinks will be served.

Featured Art House Dallas Writers

Sarah Galaro

A founding partner at Tabletop Marketing, Sarah Galaro has nearly 15 years of experience in media, the creative arts, and writing for brands. Whatever she works on—from talking points to television commercials—she works through the lens of narrative.

In 2023, she co-created a workshop, “The Craft of Artful Advertising: How Narrative Storytelling Took Over Modern Media,” for the Highland Park Literary Festival. In her workshop, she challenges high school students to use short-form storytelling techniques in advertising and brand-building.

Sarah is a proud dabbler. She writes short fiction in every genre, colloquial poetry, and the occasional essay. She is an on-again, off-again competitor in NYC Midnight challenges, and she has been gratefully active in the Art House creative writing community for 2.5 years.

Sarah has an MBA from the University of Texas at Austin McCombs School of Business. She enjoys being a mom to two wild, creative daughters.

Kellye Abernathy

A former wireless executive, Kellye teaches practical life skills, creative writing, yoga, and mindfulness within local schools and the trauma-survivor community. She hopes to inspire healing through healthy body and breath awareness, creativity, consistency, and compassion.

An avid reader and writer, she is the author of two YA science fantasy novels, The Aquamarine Surfboard (2022) and Amethyst, The Shallows (2024). The third novel in the series, Indigo, The Deep, is scheduled for release in April 2026.

Kellye’s joys are many and varied, among them neuroscience, oceanography, swimming, biking, family adventures, and great conversation. She believes in staying curious, showing up, trusting God, and keeping her heart open.
